Rockin' in Style

Momma and Poppa Kirk gave us this wonderful chair a few months ago. During Spring Break Craftin' week, Matt and I decided to give it a make over.
Here are the before pictures.

And here are the after pictures! We painted the chair and I redid the cushions with a sheet I found at D.I for $4! Pretty good deal!

We probably won't be doing much more craftin, since now school is serious business only 5 weeks to go! We are counting down the days!

Hello Spring!

I ceremoniously welcomed in spring by the changing of my wreafs (Matt always thought that was how it was pronounced.) Goodbye winter wreaf, hello spring wreaf (it also doubles as summer and fall wreaf)

Since its spring break and we are off from school we spent an evening at the park! It was nice to get out and do something outside.
Matt was having fun on the swings and climbing the trees.

On our way back from the park Matt's keen craftin' eye spotted these beauties in a parking lot.

Since there wasn't a sign telling us not to take them, we helped our selves. We could only fit 2 into the car.
Here is the before and after. Matt had to nail some wood boards on the sides since it was only cardboard before.

This is a video of Matt showing off for me. The best part is the victory dance.

Since I don't have kids I post pictures of Matt....

If he wasn't so cute when he's sleeping I would stop taking pictures of him.

St. Patties day peppermint patties

I made these peppermint patties  last night. They were pretty much super good. It was super quick and easy to make with the secret ingredient of mashed potatoes! Go check out the recipe and give 'em a try!

Playin' Hooky-Weekend Recap

Last Friday Matt and I decided to take a little mini trip down to Manti. He had the day off from work, since Matt never has Saturday's off work I decided to take the day off and spend it with him.  We wanted to have a picnic in Manti but there was still snow on the ground. So instead we ate subway sandwiches in the car in the temple parking lot. Matt wanted to get the camping chairs out and sit in the parking lot, but I thought it would be a little weird.   We then did a session in the temple, we ended up being super early because I got the times mixed up. But it was nice to sit together in the temple.

We walked up to the spot where Matt proposed to me, and took a picture. Good old self timer, you give us the best pictures. Notice the truck in the background, we were trying to stand in front of it to cover it up, but we were unsuccessful.

The whole way down to Manti we kept making faces at each other (because we are soo mature). This is Matt's favorite face. When we make this face we have to talk in a low voice while trying to move the lips as little as possible.

This weekend we also looked at a bunch of houses. We put offers in on 2 of them.

This house is in American Fork and in way good condition.

This one is in Springville and we both love it! We almost didn't get to see it, the tenants didn't want to let us in  and my momma had to fight our way in.

We've had a few weird experiences with the house hunt. We've been to a bunch of weird houses! Yesterday we saw a house in Orem and we walked in on a teenage boy sleeping, or he could have been dead. We don't really know. We also saw a house last night that was super weird, it had a bunch of weird doors and rooms in weird places. Matt kept telling me it was a ghost house and they made different stair cases everywhere to confuse the ghosts.

Saturday night we babysat these kids. This picture was actually taken the last time we babysat them, they have an obsession with the walk in closet and my church shoes. They always sneak off and steal my shoes.
We made sugar cookies with them and let them decorate their own cookies. Melly really really liked to lick the frosting off the knife. She didn't even eat her cookie, she just ate the frosting. Alex was very worried about getting frosting on his fingers, so he didn't eat much of his cookies. Those silly kids.

This is a video of Melly telling me the name of her Hello Kitty stuffed animal. It makes me laugh every time I watch it.

That was pretty much our weekend. It was a really good weekend spent together having fun!
Just a quick mental image to leave you with. Yesterday Matt and I were driving and saw a road kill clean up truck carrying a trailer full of dead deer. Piles and piles of dead deer. I am still traumatized.

Passion.

Matt and I have so much passion... so we bought the passion scented air freshener. We cleaned out our car on Saturday (it was long over due, there were still pine tree needles in the trunk from the Christmas tree) and decided we needed a new air freshener. I have never been a big fan of the regular scented air fresheners, they usually give me a headache. Matt kept saying the car smelled like a dog or cat pee (then he would go into telling me a story about cats getting in his car in high school and it would make me laugh really hard imagining him driving around with a wild cat in his car). So he insisted on getting an air freshener, and thats when we found passion. Passion doesn't smell like regular air fresheners, it smells kinda like a 15 year old boy who just discovered Axe body spray for the first time. It's pretty strong stuff, but I like the smell.
I am proud to say that we have a very clean car (if it weren't for Matt it probably would have never gotten done!) with a hint of men's body spray.

Buzy Beaver

Lately we have been very busy beavers. With school, and work, and the house hunting we haven't had much time for anything else. We have both been doing pretty well in all of our classes. Matt is taking both math and Spanish and doing super good in both of them. When ever he has a test I will ask him how he did and he will always say something like " I didn't know how to do half of it and I guessed on a bunch" then 2 days later his score will come back and it is always an A. That silly boy!

The house hunting has gone well so far, thanks to my wonderful Momma. We have 3 offers, 2 offers in Santaquin and 1 in Spanish Fork. We won't be heartbroken if we don't get any of them (Matt may cry a little, he has gotten attached to a few of them). We want to get into a house so we can pay towards a mortgage, but we aren't looking forward to the commute to Orem, especially with gas prices raising. So we'll just sit tight and put a bunch of offers in and save up our dollars for a good down payment.

I'm a birthday boy!

Matt hates attention, especially on his birthday. So of course, I give him way too much attention! Today is Matthew's 23rd birthday! He is gettin' so old! He had to work today, so we celebrated his birthday last night. Momma and Poppa Kirk gave us a tent since our last one got stolen/we lost it. We hadn't used our tent yet, so that set the grounds for our theme for the evening. We had an indoor camp out!

We ate hot dogs for dinner, since we were camping (that is the only time I will ever eat hot dogs, I think my hate for them goes back to my childhood when we got all the left over hot dogs from the ward BBQ. We spent a whole summer eating hot dogs every day. Yuck!). We also had s'mores and a bunch of candy (Matt looooves candy).

I bought Matt a sander and the shirt he is wearing. He thinks the sander is for him, but I know I will end up using it just as much as him on my projects.

I wanted to make a Kit Kat cake with Kit Kats along the sides, but I was too cheap and didn't want to spend the big bucks on kit kats (they are like $3.50 a bag! Outrageous!) So I made a chocolate cake with milky way and heath bar in the middle.

I made a video tribute to Matt for his birthday, for some reason it won't let me upload it. So check out my facebook,if you haven't already seen it. Happy Birthday to Matt! You are such an amazing person and the love of my life!
