Hutch 5 Months

Hutch is 5 months old! 5 months of sweet snuggles from this adorable guy, 5 months of fighting over who gets to hold him, 5 months of my heart feeling like it can't contain anymore cuteness. We all love him more and more every day!

Hutch is still 12.5 lbs and in the 1% for weight (the neighbor baby is 6 weeks older than Hutch and 21 lbs... so yeah Hutch is small). The Dr isn't concerned since he's staying on track. He is just going to be a small guy. Someone has to be in the 1% for weight, so I guess Hutch will be that guy.

Loves- taking baths, being held or being in the carrier, being tickled, watching his brothers play, and snuggling.

Hates- the car or car seat (although he is getting better), being left alone or playing on the ground by himself. That's pretty much it. He is a very happy baby!

He is still the sweetest easy going baby. He will go with the flow very easily and nap on the go if needed. His naps have been a lot better and he's been taking longer naps (hallelujah!).

We also had a stretch (like 2 months worth) of really bad sleeping, he was getting up 3-6 times per night. We were exhausted!! I pushed back his feeding schedule to every 4 hours and he has started sleeping a LOT better since. Since the switch he's been getting up once per night. On the weekends I like to trick Matt and tell him to take the first feeding and I'll take the second feeding. Of course hoping that Hutch will only be up once and I'll get to sleep through the night. So far its been in my favor, although Matt is catching on.

Hutch has now started on solids. He's only had a few things so far, bananas, sweet potato and rice cereal. He hasn't figured it out yet, so we are just experimenting for now.

Hutch has really been loving the bath. he loves to stretch out and kick all over the tub. He splashes and gets water all over himself and loves it. And of course always ends up peeing all over himself too.

Hutch also had his first hair cut this month as well! He still had all the newborn hair on the back of his head, one side was completely rubbed off leaving the other side really patchy. So we shaved it to even it up. I put his first hair cut trimmings in a bag to save and I left it on the counter. The boys found it, opened it, and dumped it all over the kitchen. So there is no physical proof of Hutch's first hair cut, sorry Hutch.

He has been very interactive lately. He loves to watch his brothers and will just stare at them until they will look at him, then he will get a big smile on his face and squeal. Its the cutest thing! He shares his smiles with everyone too, and definitely has that Kirk charm.

It was also Hutch's first Halloween! We had a lot of fun (see our October recap). He was a super cute dalmatian puppy, and tolerated his costume.

Each month gets better and better with this cute little guy! Can't wait to experience Hutch's first holiday season!

October Recap

October was such a fun busy month! I have never been a fan of the fall because its means winter is right around the corner. But I think I am a convert to Autumn! We've had such amazing weather, and we've been able to do so many fun things.

The beginning of the month we took a trip to Park City. We like to head up to Park City every year to check out the fall leaves. It was beautiful this year! Matt brought his bike and the bike trailer and biked down the canyon a ways with the boys. I followed behind him in the car to make sure they all made it out alive. They all LOVED it and went down several times to try and get going faster than the time before.

We had a pool at our hotel and that ended up being the boys favorite part. The boys have always been a little apprehensive of water and swimming. We brought the floaties for them and had a ball that we would throw out in the water and they would paddle over to it.  It was fun to see how much fun they were having. Carter especially liked it, and has been asking to go back to the hotel since.

They loved sleeping in the hotel bed and thought it was fun to jump from bed to bed.

On our way home from Park City we headed to the Zoo. They were both really excited to see the Zebras. All the animals were out and pretty active, we got to see the Lion and the Giraffe up close. It was a really fun day.

We couldn't get enough of the beautiful fall leaves after our Park City trip, so we took a Sunday drive up American Fork Canyon. The boys fell asleep in the car, so they ended up being really ornery when we got out of the car. They warmed up a bit and when it was time to leave they both cried saying they didn't want to go home.

Handsome men ready for church in their matching ties I made them.

We got the boys preschool pictures back, they turned out super adorable!! They have been LOVING preschool. Carter loves to paint, and when he is being shy he has me ask the teacher if he can paint. They come home each day with something new they have learned, its amazing to me how fast they learn and how much they pick up on.

They are both getting braver and braver. They seem to be getting out of their shells a bit, and I know preschool has really helped them do that. Carter has always been more apprehensive and nervous. Lately he has been going on all the scary big slides at the park. This is a huge step because he NEVER goes on the slides at all. It has been a huge confidence builder for him to be able to do those brave things.

This month we were able to go to several different pumpkin patches! Each one was different and so much fun!

The first pumpkin patch was Hee Haw Farms, we went for a preschool field trip. The boys loved playing with their twin friends, Nora and Reagan.

The farm was so fun and had so much to do. They even got to go and pet pigs and goats.

Jameson loved going down the slides and Carter loved the corn pit.

Next we went to Corn Bellys with the Kirk family.

The boys were so excited to go with their cousins Cooper and Beckam.

Corn Belly's was packed! It was a super busy day. And Corn Belly's is also HUGE!!!

We spent hours and hours there and we still weren't able to see everything.

Hutch did so good too. We had him in the carrier most the time and he barely made a peep.

Jameson loved the corn maze (my least favorite part, haha) and Carter loved the slides. There were so many different slides everywhere and Carter loved each one and begged to keep going down the slides.

When it was time to go, the boys were so sad. They would have stayed there all night if we let them.

Our last pumpkin patch of the season was with Grandma & Grandpa J

We went to Jakers in Springville. The boys loved going on the hay ride and the corn maze again.

One of my favorite pictures. These boys sure are loved by so many people!!

They each got to pick a pumpkin too and loved that!

Just a few days ago we were able to meet Ashton's daughter, Kali. Victoria and Kali are up visiting from Brazil. It was fun being able to meet her and see how sweet she is. She has a lot of Ashton's features! Perfect picture with Grandma & Grandpa Kirk and all the grandkids.

Halloween

Halloween was so fun this year! I've never been super big into holidays, but each year it gets more and more fun with the kids! The boys were firemen and Hutch was their Dalmation dog. They were super adorable. Although, Hutch wasn't too happy about it.

Every year Matt's work does trick or treating for the kids. The boys were SO excited this year! They kept asking all day long when we could go.  Hutch stole the show and was smiling at everyone he passed. He was super adorable.

We did a Johansen family Halloween party. I was in charge of the games, including the costume contest. I wasn't really going to dress up, because I hate dressing up. But the night before I had this idea for a costume for Hutch and I. We killed it! Hutch was the best zombie baby. And we tied for best costume!

My mom put together the food for the party. She went all out and had tons of scary food.

We played some fun games, and then ended the night watching a spooky movie in Peter's theater room in his basement. It was such a fun party. We all had a blast!

Halloween night the boys were so excited to go trick or treating! They get the concept and they aren't as shy as last  year, so it was a lot of fun! We did a loop around our block and that was about as much as we could all take. And then the candy promptly got hidden and has only come out when they are being really good.

October was such a great month, one of my favorites months so far. The boys are getting excited for the holidays and for Christmas!
