Hutch 8 Months

Hutch is 8 months!! He loves food, all kinds of food. He has eaten everything we have given him, especially loving pickles, bananas, blueberries, and spaghetti. He still loves bath time, loves to jump in his jumper, loves to sleep all night (hallelujah!), smiles and loves everyone he meets. Loves to drool and slobber on everything.

Dislikes- He does not like his brothers beating on him or stealing his toys. He gets frustrated when he is sitting and trying to grab something and then falls on his belly, he prefers to be sitting up seeing the world. He does not like when he isn't getting attention.

He does not have any teeth yet, but I feel swollen gums. So I am sure he will have teeth in the next few weeks. But that does not hold him back from eating everything in site. He uses his gums to mash everything up.

He is soooo close to crawling. He gets on his knees and rocks and tries to reach for things. He has backwards crawled a few times, but hasn't fully grasped the concept of crawling yet. It will only be a few more weeks till he is on the move.

This is what happens when I ask the twins to get clothes for Hutch. Hutch didn't seem to mind. haha.

Hutch went swimming at a pool for the first time this month! We went for Grandma J's birthday. All the kids had a blast, Hutch liked to splash around in the water. Jameson loves to jump in and plug his nose and go under the water. Carter likes the lazy river, and does NOT like his head under the water.

Also a new thing this month, is the twins LOVE to climb into Hutch's crib every morning. They patiently wait till they hear him wake up, then they crawl into his crib and undress him (not sure why they do that). Hutch loves the company (most of the time) and they all will usually play for 10-15 minutes.

We also had a really fun time at a jump place with all the Kirk cousins. The twins were in heaven jumping everywhere and getting grandma and grandpa to go down the big slides. Hutch did a lot of observing and then some snoozing.

Hutch loves getting hugs from his cousin Kali, she was so sweet to him.

Carter on the left 10ish months, Hutch on the right 8ish months. We went down to Grandma J's house for the morning a few weeks ago and grandma fed Hutch blueberries. He LOVED them. He loved sucking the juices out and getting it all over his face.

The twins have been learning about safety in preschool, they have been practicing how to call 911 and what to do in a fire (stop, drop and roll). They also went on a field trip to the fire station. It was a hit!

They loved seeing the big fire truck, trying on the big heavy (40lb) fireman's backpack, and both their favorites was looking inside the ambulance.

And in just a few weeks we are heading off to Hawaii, without the kids! HALLELUJAH!

Hutch 7 Months

Hutch is now 7 months old! He's closer to a year old than he is to birth. Time has been flying by with him!

He is now 15.5lbs and 25 inches. He's still small for height and weight, but he is on track and has been doing great with all his milestones.

He has been sleeping soooo much better!! He's been sleeping 12-13 hours every night, goes to bed by 6:30/7 and gets up around 7:30. It has been so nice to get a full nights sleep, except for about 5 times a week when one of the twins wakes up in the middle of the night because "I need to go potty" or "my blankets fell off the bed" or "I have a booger". So at this rate I'll be getting a full nights sleep when all the kids have moved out.

Hutch has been eating more solid foods, he loves bananas, applesauce, oatmeal and cream of wheat. He loves when Matt feeds him and seems to gobble it up (compared to him spitting half of it out when I feed him).

He still loves bath time and splashing around. He is now preferring to sit up verses laying in the bath. The boys always want to join him when they see him taking a bath.

We had a really fun busy Christmas season.

Hutch enjoyed his first Christmas and played with the wrapping paper. He kind of seemed in shock and just watched the boys go crazy with all their presents. And I failed and didn't get any good pictures on Christmas morning.

The twins loved Christmas and got a good haul. Their favorite present changes each day, but they both loved the presents they picked out for each other (twin thinking?). Their least favorite presents were probably the ones from us, although they still acted excited when they opened the 10th present full of clothes. haha.

We were able to go to so many fun Christmas parties with each side of the family and it was so fun to get together with everyone.

They got these Christmas head bands at the Johansen party and loved them. They played games with all the cousins in the gym and were so sad when it was time to leave.

We celebrated the Kirk Christmas the week after Christmas and we jam packed the weekend with tons of fun!

Aunt Alissa crocheted all the grandkids little monster hats. All the kids looked so adorable in the hats! Alissa worked so hard on them!

We remembered Ashton with yellow socks and had a dance party in his honor. The boys call their yellow socks their "Ashton socks". They loved dancing around to the fun music with glow sticks. It was a fun night.

Aunt Brittney gave all the kids for Christmas a trip to the aquarium. We all had a blast! Jameson loved the sharks the most and Carter said he loved when he hit his head on the glass the most (He cried about it until we made Daddy hit his head and then Carter thought it was hilarious).

Hutch got lots of attention from everyone and was content and sweet the whole day. He even loved the 3D glasses.

This last Sunday the twins graduated from nursery and headed to primary!! It didn't go as planned and they were scared. Matt sat with them for the first 15 mins, then Jameson came out crying and only went back to class when they offered him candy. ha. So we are hoping next week will be a little easier. They are so brave and will do great!

We are really excited for 2018 and all the fun things we have planned!

Hutch 6 Months

Hutch is 6 months old!! Can't believe that he is half a year old already! He is now 14lbs which puts him in the 5th percentile for weight! Wahoo! He's finally gaining some weight!

This month Hutch has been sitting up so well! He loves to sit up and prefers to be sitting up and watching everyone. He is still working on rolling fully, but does roll from his tummy to his back.

Hutch's eye lashes are still super long and beautiful. Everyone comments on his lashes and how long they are. Last time I went to Costco we got stopped several times for people to just look at his eye lashes.

Hutch wearing one of outfits my brother's wore as babies. So cute!

This month we have had a lot of fun! We went on a few play dates with friends in the ward. We went to the Discovery Gateway museum, rode the trax and ate lunch at City Creek, and also went to the zoo. It was so much fun!! All the boys loved it!

Hutch has a little buddy, Troy, that is just a few days younger than him. Its fun to see them grow together!

The twins with their friend Easton. They all loved the playground at the zoo the best and could have stayed for hours playing.

Hutch has his first Thanksgiving and did so good. He sat on our laps and Matt fed him a few bites of mashed potatoes and jello, and he gagged on it. haha. After dinner he was so exhausted and slept while the boys played with toys.

Hutch also  made his first Christmas ornament. My dad put together these cute wood slice ornament crafts for the kids to make. The boys had a blast decorating their ornaments with stickers and markers. And they proudly hung them on our tree.

We went up to This is the Place to the German market. It was crowded, so we didn't stay too long. The boys did squeeze in a pony ride and loved it. They were both so brave and rode all by themselves and loved it!

Progression from 1 months to 6 months. So fun to see him grow!!

We are excited for Hutch's first Christmas! He is really going to love the wrapping paper we wrapped his gifts in.

Hutch 5 Months

Hutch is 5 months old! 5 months of sweet snuggles from this adorable guy, 5 months of fighting over who gets to hold him, 5 months of my heart feeling like it can't contain anymore cuteness. We all love him more and more every day!

Hutch is still 12.5 lbs and in the 1% for weight (the neighbor baby is 6 weeks older than Hutch and 21 lbs... so yeah Hutch is small). The Dr isn't concerned since he's staying on track. He is just going to be a small guy. Someone has to be in the 1% for weight, so I guess Hutch will be that guy.

Loves- taking baths, being held or being in the carrier, being tickled, watching his brothers play, and snuggling.

Hates- the car or car seat (although he is getting better), being left alone or playing on the ground by himself. That's pretty much it. He is a very happy baby!

He is still the sweetest easy going baby. He will go with the flow very easily and nap on the go if needed. His naps have been a lot better and he's been taking longer naps (hallelujah!).

We also had a stretch (like 2 months worth) of really bad sleeping, he was getting up 3-6 times per night. We were exhausted!! I pushed back his feeding schedule to every 4 hours and he has started sleeping a LOT better since. Since the switch he's been getting up once per night. On the weekends I like to trick Matt and tell him to take the first feeding and I'll take the second feeding. Of course hoping that Hutch will only be up once and I'll get to sleep through the night. So far its been in my favor, although Matt is catching on.

Hutch has now started on solids. He's only had a few things so far, bananas, sweet potato and rice cereal. He hasn't figured it out yet, so we are just experimenting for now.

Hutch has really been loving the bath. he loves to stretch out and kick all over the tub. He splashes and gets water all over himself and loves it. And of course always ends up peeing all over himself too.

Hutch also had his first hair cut this month as well! He still had all the newborn hair on the back of his head, one side was completely rubbed off leaving the other side really patchy. So we shaved it to even it up. I put his first hair cut trimmings in a bag to save and I left it on the counter. The boys found it, opened it, and dumped it all over the kitchen. So there is no physical proof of Hutch's first hair cut, sorry Hutch.

He has been very interactive lately. He loves to watch his brothers and will just stare at them until they will look at him, then he will get a big smile on his face and squeal. Its the cutest thing! He shares his smiles with everyone too, and definitely has that Kirk charm.

It was also Hutch's first Halloween! We had a lot of fun (see our October recap). He was a super cute dalmatian puppy, and tolerated his costume.

Each month gets better and better with this cute little guy! Can't wait to experience Hutch's first holiday season!
